Summer is nearly here, but before you dream of pleasant warm mornings and beach holidays, remember the damage that warmer months can cause to your skin.
The sun can lead to dark spots, pigmentation and wrinkles. I have put this blog together offering tips on skin care.
1. Moisturize
Moisturizing is essential. You may think that now winter is nearly over you can skip that part of your regimen, but don’t. The
summer heat heat dehydrates your body and makes your skin dry.
Dry skin is prone to damage and dullness, and you need to moisturize to make up for the loss of moisture. Moisturizer s acts as a barrier for pollutants, bacteria, and help prevent sunburn.
2. Exfoliate
You need to exfoliate at regular intervals to remove the accumulated dead skin cells that are clogging your pores and forming a layer on your skin.
Exfoliation also makes your face a better canvas to apply makeup on.
Also, do not exfoliate every day because that can cause over scrubbing of the skin and lead to redness, rashes, and breakouts. Exfoliate your skin 2-3 times a week using a circulatory motion.
3. Hydration
In summer, we tend to sweat more, making cells lose water quickly. To maintain moisture levels in your body and not feel weak or faint due to dehydration, you need to drink enough water.
Ideally, drink at least 8-10 glasses of water every day and include lots of fresh juices and fruits with high water content in your diet.
4. Choose Non-Comedogenic Products
Products that block your skin pores should be avoided. Clogged pores lead to skin irritations, infections and acne breakouts.
Your daily skin care products have to be non-comedogenic, because pore blocking products can cause dead skin cells and bacteria to accumulate on your skin.
5. Follow A Healthy Diet
A healthy diet includes a mix of fruits, vegetables, nuts, cereals, and pulses, a balance of all the nutrients that your body requires.
During the summer, increase your intake of raw or boiled food. Include as many fruits and veggies in your meals as possible and out for salads, smoothies, and juices.
Also, nuts are an excellent addition because they are beneficial for your skin.
